A couple moved out of a retirement community, where the HOA situation put strict limitations on what they had been able to do with their home. When they purchased their own contemporary 1980’s home in Chadds Ford, they were excited for the freedom to do exactly what they wanted. Because it had not been updated since it was first built, the home needed renovations to get it up to speed with modern design standards – especially in the kitchen.
From Galley to Gourmet
The couple contracted with West Chester Design Build to take the tight galley area that was the old kitchen and create an updated, highly functional, but beautifully modern space. Our team was able to successfully expand and convert the area to achieve the desired goal of a gourmet kitchen, complete with custom cabinetry, low voltage LED lighting, an eat-in peninsula, hardwood floors, and stone countertops.
In order to open up the kitchen design and create a seamless flow between it and the adjacent dining room and family room areas, our team had to take on the added complexities of removing a load bearing wall. We went to work, using our skill in structural engineering and relying on our years of experience in planning renovation elements to match existing design. The final product was a blended space that truly transformed the entire floor.
